Tracy’s 2004 Christmas Poem

Global Christmas

The robin on the Christmas card

Has never looked so jolly:

He sits upon a frosty spade

Beside a sprig of holly.

A traditional Victorian Christmas scene,

Where Season’s Greetings flow,

Along with wine and festive food.

So comforting to know

That in a world of changes

Traditional things remain,

And quality and endurance

Outperform financial gain.

But oh! What’s this say overleaf-

I’m sure it must be wrong.

In letters bold, those fateful words:

‘Printed in Hong Kong’.

Does it really matter now

Where anything gets made?

We’d sell our souls then buy them back

In the interests of free trade!
